Reflective Blog: Revision is Hope

The piece we read for writing into the day last Thursday about revision really got me thinking about the different reasons to revise things, especially now that we are working on revising our literacy narratives.

I really liked how this piece connected revising literacy to revising our lives. I thought it was an interesting way to expand the idea of literacy more. We can use the methods behind revising a paper to revise our own life. For example, if you write a sentence one day and love it, but then later decide you hate it, you can delete it. Over the summer I got a new job and ended up hating it, so I quit.

It's interesting to see how different writers can find new ways of connecting literacy to other things in our lives.

  1. I really like your post! I should have connected my post this week to that piece since I spoke about revising as well. I think it was a really good thing to look back to.

  2. I also noticed how this piece connected the idea of revision to our everyday lives. Revision can be applied to just about every decision we make, not just our writing.

  4. I always revise my past actions, some are regret, some are greatful for the experiences and the lessons I learned. When I write and come back the next day I always end up changing what I said because it always sounds stupid when I'm reading it. Revision applies to every decisions we ever make, be it writing or reading, or math, or anything in between. Thank God for the bckspace and delet key on the keyboard

  5. I never thought of revision the way you just thought of it. I agree when you say that revision is part of our lives. When we make mistakes, we fix it.

  6. I thought of revision the same way you did, and related it to our lives as well. I feel like revision in our work can be applied to our daily lives in fixing things.

  7. Revision is a great thing! Plus we are at such a good point in our lives where we can do something as much as want until we feel right or comfortable. College is all about figuring out what you want to do and stuff. Its good you quit the job you didnt like.
